Sorrento Bay of Naples
The Bay of Naples from Sorrento. Sorrento is surrounded by mountains on 3 sides with cliffs to the sea on the other. Narrow streets end in squares with views over the bay. Oranges grow by the roadside. You may say its a dusty town but there is something else as I returned 3 times.
Capri
Anacapri
 A short ferry, hydrofoil or jet foil trip across the bay to Capri. Like a big tooth sticking out of the sea. The portis at the bottom of the hill up to Capri town. A bus ride up to Anacapri at the top of the island and here is the view down from Axel Munthe's house. We take the steps all the way down.

 Overlooked by Vesuvius Pompei is a large ruin with chariot rutted streets and houses with red and black painted inner walls. Shop counters remain with jugs for storing liquid and food. Join with others a get an official guide for £15 a group.
