{"id":1068,"date":"2018-09-30T16:15:43","date_gmt":"2018-09-30T15:15:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madeinpreston.co.uk\/b\/?p=1068"},"modified":"2018-09-30T16:15:44","modified_gmt":"2018-09-30T15:15:44","slug":"keighley-bus-museum-and-kw-railway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.madeinpreston.co.uk\/b\/2018\/09\/keighley-bus-museum-and-kw-railway\/","title":{"rendered":"Keighley  Bus Museum and K&#038;W Railway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.madeinpreston.co.uk\/b\/2018\/09\/keighley-bus-museum-and-kw-railway\/keighleybusmuseum\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1071\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1071\" src=\"http:\/\/www.madeinpreston.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/KeighleyBusMuseum.jpg\" alt=\"Keighley Bus Museum Sept 2018\" width=\"780\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.madeinpreston.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/KeighleyBusMuseum.jpg 780w, http:\/\/www.madeinpreston.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/KeighleyBusMuseum-600x379.jpg 600w, http:\/\/www.madeinpreston.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/KeighleyBusMuseum-768x485.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Keighley is halfway between east and west coasts so not a bad trip along the A59 or the M65.\u00a0 There is a heritage railway, The Keighley and Worth, which has 3 museums and a shed.\u00a0 There is also a Bus Museum and a real museum called The Cliffe.<\/p>\n<p>We visited the Bus Museum and the Railway Museums in September 2018.\u00a0 Also the Cliffe Museum a couple of years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Keighley Bus Museum is only open on certain special days.\u00a0 \u00a0In September it was a Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning.\u00a0 The museum is contained in what appears to be an old Bus Garage next to a large stone mill.\u00a0 Quite an attractive mill with a Tower if you like the stone architecture.\u00a0 \u00a0Inside is a collection of running buses mainly ex-Leeds Corporation with a couple of ex-Morecambe and Heysham Buses and some ex-East Yorkshire Buses.\u00a0 There is also the last Leeds Trolley Bus and plenty of old buses awaiting restoration.\u00a0 \u00a0It&#8217;s a definitely a garage experience but if you like the old buses worth a trip.<\/p>\n<p>The Keighley and Worth Railway is a stretch of track from Keighley to Oxenhope about 7 miles, with a station at Haworth.\u00a0 \u00a0Also a station at Ingrow just outside Keighley where there is a Carriage Museum and a Loco Museum.\u00a0 \u00a0At Oxenhope is a Carriage and Loco Museum while Haworth has an engine shed that is occasionally open.\u00a0 \u00a0Throughout the year there are timetables for services on the line using steam or diesel and often with a theme such as Halloween, Christmas and Beer trips.<\/p>\n<p>The Bus Museum took about 45 minutes while some 4 hours were spent at the Railway including a return journey.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.madeinpreston.co.uk\/b\/keighleyworthrly\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1074\" src=\"http:\/\/www.madeinpreston.co.uk\/b\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/KeighleyWorthRly.jpg\" alt=\"Keighley &amp;
